The typical cost of repainting an oast cowl is £2,600, with an estimated completion time of two weeks. Cowls are often stripped down completely, with all the outer casing removed. This allows easy access to the inner framework. The new timber is then painted with the Dulux Weathershield paints system developed by ICI Paints Akzonobel, which has proven to be the world’s most effective painting method.
